The Hunt Tracker is a long lost art, science, and philosophy of hunting that nearly vanished with the passing of the old ways. Today hunting has become the act of sitting in a ground blind or in a tree stand waiting for the game to pass by. It is also the act of “jump hunting” where the hunter wanders through game-rich landscapes in the hopes of jumping game and getting off a quick shot. Tracks and sign tracking are used in modern times only to confirm that game is in the area and where one should locate their blind or jump hunt. Rarely does the modern hunter have the skill and experience to follow tracks to the very animal he or she is hunting. Following tracks after an animal is wounded is a fragmented method of following only the most prominent tracks or the “blood trail” the animal has left behind in his pain and suffering.
The Hunt Tracker class will teach the student how to follow even the most obscure tracks right to the very animal being hunted. Along with teaching this vanishing art of hunt tracking will be the art and science of “Stalk Tracking”, which allows the hunter to follow the trail like a shadow, without revealing his presence even within a few feet of the game. The only time we hear of track hunting today is usually found in desert or soft ground areas, never across fields or in the hollows of the deepest forests. That is where the modern hunter fails, not only fails to follow the trail but fails to move silently and unseen. For the students that take this very unique class this will all suddenly change and they will master the skill of the ancient hunt tracker and forever preserve that special knowledge.
The Hunt Tracker class will be taught jointly by Tom Brown III and his father Tom Brown Jr. It will be three full days of tracking, stalking, and hunting skills; an intense baptism into those ancient ways. We will also teach you how to camouflage and carry any weapon skillfully and silently. We even bring into the picture the tracking of fugitives and the use of photographic equipment. Hunting with a camera is still hunting at its finest. Needless to say this class is one of the most requested and long awaited of any class in memory. Enrollment is limited so that we can better work with you in tight tracking and stalking situations. The cost of the 3 day class will be $550 and run from Thursday May 24th through Sunday May 27th.
